Whether you agree or not, Apple has unleased unlocked iPhone 4 this morning.?
Unlocked version of iPhone 4 are now listed on Apple's onlie store, with 16GB version availableat $649 and 32GB at $749, both white and black.
"If you don't want a multiyear service contract or if you prefer to use a local carrier when traveling abroad, the unlocked iPhone 4 is the best choice. It arrives without a micro-SIM card, so you'll need an active micro-SIM card from any supported GSM carrier worldwide," according to Apple. ?
On Apple's website, it explains how?the unlocked iPhone 4 works:
"The unlocked iPhone 4 requires an active micro-SIM card that you obtain from a supported GSM wireless carrier. Simply insert the micro-SIM card into the slot on your iPhone, connect to your Mac or PC using the USB cable, and launch iTunes on your computer to complete the setup."?
When the unveiling of unlocked iPhone 4 was rumored, Lance Ulanoff of PCMag had raised reasonable reasons why Apple would not do such a stupid thing.
"Apple does not create niche products, devices that will sell to a excited few who can, perhaps, generate further interest i broader product offerings. Apple goes big or it goes home. Its products are designed for adoption by the largest set of consumers. Phone hackers and DIYers are not a part of this group," Ulanoff stated. ?
As some suggests, is Apple trying to boost the dwindling sales of iPhones by offloadig stocks? Rumors point to September launch of the new iPhone which has allegedly reached its final testing phase, but whether it is iPhone 5 or a newer version of iPhone 4 is yet to be announced.?Selling unlocked iPhone 4 may create a little buzz for Apple till it's ready to introduce of the iPhone 5.?
It is estimated that less than 1% of all mobile phones are sold unlocked in the United States. With unlocked iPhone 4s that would attract those who don't want to be bounded by a contract, those who travel overseas frequently, and possibly some unintended customers, can Apple make a glomorous debut??
