Stressbusters for Teens! We can make a difference | Social Skills ...

Stressbusting with teens is hard. ?After all, I can?t just pull out some playdough with my 14 year old, and expect him to relax. ?Nor can I put my 18 year old down for an extra nap. ?So too often, parents with special needs teens forget to find creative and sneaky ways to help their kids manage and transform stress!

I just put up a freebie on my blog here (see that funky green button on the right?), where you can sign up for my newsletter with stressbusting and social skills advice for parents, AND get my new freebie download report: ?Kickbutt StressBusting Ideas for Teens. ?And I write about the importance of finding stressbusters for our pre-teen and teen and young adult kids, and give plenty of cool ideas to get your kid chilling.

All parents need to help their children ? from baby to college age- rest. ?But for those of us with special needs kids, the need is even greater. ?Our ADHD kids wear out sitting hour after hour at school; our aspie kids get overwhelmed with too much stimulation; our kids with anxiety disorders crash and burn when stress levels rise; stress derails any behavioral plan you have. ?Stressbusting is one of the bottom line interventions we parents can do!

I know all about stressbusting ? with teens on the autism spectrum who have active performance schedules, I use a lot of my own advice! ?This weekend both my teens are performing in a community Shakespeare production, and I am giving them lots of down time today to help them process and re-charge. ?This down time is essential to their success ? and so are the other ideas in my KickButt report. ?The time we take to transform stress means all the more when our kids succeed in the future ? and we return to the fun of parenting when we all of us chill.

Please sign up for my newsletter and try my report. ?Find the down time and joy with your kid again!

I have ten years of experience teaching social skills and anxiety management with pre-teens, teens and young adults. In addition to graduate work in Applied Behavior Analysis and a graduate certificate in Autism Education, I am myself parent to two children on the autism spectrum. I know how hard it is to find quality social skills programs, and I know how effective good ones can be in the lives of a child! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
