The Royal Center for Research and Islamic Studies has ranked King Mohammed VI second ?among the 50 most influential leaders in the Muslim world.
The Royal Center, which is considered a neutral civic organization, listed the Moroccan King as the second most influential Islamic figure after Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Saudi king, who topped the list in the classification published on the (RCRIS) Web site about the most influential people in the Muslim world.
To classify the top influential figures in the Islamic world, the centre relies upon strict criteria including personal popularity in the Muslim world and within its surroundings, the management and handling of current socio-political issues, and the way these popular figures respond and deal with the ?Arab Spring? that has toppled down nearly all Arab dictators.
After the ?Arab Spring?, many prominent names are excluded in the classification of the Center for Research and Islamic Studies of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Foundation for Islamic Thought in Amman (Jordan).
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Prime Minister, was ranked third, while Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of Jordan, was counted in fourth place. Khaled Meshaal, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, ranked 39.
