Patagonia Toronto at 500 King Street West will open its doors to the community to celebrate the best of Ontario?s local food and drink through a series of evening events. The Toronto store will be a meeting spot for local grassroots organizations and the community.
The store will also host ?Enviro Saturdays? this spring and summer.
?Anyone who is interested in learning about issues related to environment and sustainability is welcome to join us as we showcase local leaders on the various subjects,? said Andrea Reekes, Patagonia Toronto?s store manager. May?s food-focused events will be held at the store on Thursday evenings between 6pm and 8pm and will be complemented with a series of ?Enviro Saturday? events.
Thursday May 24
Good Food Revolution founder, Malcolm Jolley, will host an after work gathering in store with a series of artisanal producers of food for a sampling event. Local businesses are encouraged to sign up and come by at 6:30pm for a taste of Ontario?s bounty.
Saturday May 26
Oceanwise will be available to talk to customers about their conservation program that aims to educate and empower consumers about the issues surrounding sustainable seafood. Please check the website for time.
Thursday May 31
Chef and food-advocate, Brad Long (Caf? Belong and Veritas) and FoodShare Toronto?s Executive Director Debbie Field will be in store to lead a discussion on the balance between local, organic and sustainable foods. Brad will explore the history and future of the local food movement and talk about how consumers can ?vote? with their grocery dollars.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the events, but space is limited so participants are asked to RSVP by calling the store (416.861.1102) or on Facebook. ?Enviro Saturdays? are drop in and anyone is welcome.
