The federal health care mandate is the target of a Metairie "freedom rally" planned Oct. 20, part of the national Stand Up for Religious Freedom movement. It will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in Veterans Square, in the Veterans Memorial Boulevard median just west of Causeway Boulevard, organizer William Graham of Metairie said.
"The Obama administration's mandate ... forces all employers, regardless of religious or moral convictions, to provide abortion-inducing drugs through their health plans," Graham said.
"Religious freedom is essential to a free society. Institutions and private businesses should not violate their consciences by complying with Obamacare."
