Some of the most memorable moments in Bill Brown?s coaching career were at Hylton High School.
The veteran Colonial Forge football coach guided the Bulldogs to two Group AAA, Division 6 state championships in the 1990s.
Brown will make his first trip back to Hylton as an opposing head coach on Friday when the Eagles (6?0) visit the Bulldogs (5?1) in a nondistrict contest.
Brown said he has no overwhelming emotions about returning to his former school.
?My only real thoughts are that coaching there was a great time in my life,? Brown said. ?I had great relationships. The principal and the activities director there both played for me. I?ve got a lot of friends there that I care about.?
Brown said Hylton is a place he cherishes, but when the game starts he?ll have a different focus. He wants to see how Colonial Forge competes against another team that?s expected to reach the Northwest Region, Division 6 playoffs.
Colonial Forge, Riverbend and Stafford are the only Division 6 teams in the Commonwealth District. So Brown said Friday?s game provides a rare opportunity.
?It?s a huge opportunity for us because Hylton is a Division 6 playoff team,? Brown said. ?We won?t play Mountain View, North Stafford or Massaponax in the playoffs, but they?ll all play each other. We want to see how we do against a solid Division 6 playoff team.?

Louisa track and field star Javanique Burruss holds scholarship offers from Hampton, Kansas and South Carolina. She plans to visit Hampton this weekend.
However, her mother, LaShawn Burruss, said South Carolina has made the biggest impression on her daughter.
Javanique will take an official visit to the Columbia, S.C., school Nov. 8?11. LaShawn Burruss said it?s possible she could orally commit to the Gamecocks on the visit.
Javanique has been impressed with South Carolina assistant coach Ron Garner, a Virginia native, who has made it a priority to recruit his home state.
Garner recently visited Javanique at home.
?When he came out, he didn?t come out with pamphlets she had to follow,? LaShawn Burruss said. ?He came out and talked about life in general beyond high school and college.?
LaShawn Burruss said Garner also set Javanique?s high school schedule, and so far she?s on the honor roll. Javanique, who is a Group AA state champion long jumper, triple jumper and hurdler, has become ?a different person? since Garner?s visit, her mother said.
?He checks on her every week,? LaShawn Burruss added. ?He?s an awesome person.?

James Monroe senior quarterback DeMontaz Brown is expected to make his season d?but Friday when the Yellow Jackets (6?0) host Culpeper in a Battlefield District contest.
The game is homecoming for JM, which has been without Brown since he suffered a knee injury during the offseason. Brown helped lead the Yellow Jackets to 13 straight wins in 2011 before they lost to Brookville in the Group AA, Division 3 state championship game.
