The Important Jumps Those Are Included In Figure Skating

If we look at the practice of ice skaters then jumps are a part of their practice. They have to practice in that way because it is important for them to learn how to jump while doing figure skating. The quality of a jump in figure skating is evaluated by the take off style and the number of curls or rotations that are made while in air. There are two main types of figure skating jumps. One is known as toe jump and other is known as edge jump. When a skater has to take edge jump then he has to execute this jump from the edge of his blade and when it is about to jump then it has to be executed by using toe picks. There is a use of toes in the execution of edge jumps as well because you will have to provide support with toes of one foot while taking an edge jump.

When we talk about edges in an ice blade for edge jumping then two types of edges are available. One is inside edge and the other is outside edge. Before you do an edge jump in figure skating you will have to decide upon different things. You will have to decide if you are going to jump from left foot or right foot, backward or forward and using outside edge or inside edge. Descriptions of jumps are also determined by the way you take your jump. A jump can be described as left forward outside, right forward inside and it depends on how you have jumped in figure skating.

It is important to maintain a good body balance position before taking a jump. The starting position plays a great role in jumping while figure skating. If you will not place you feet in a right way while jumping then you may fall and get yourself hurt. So it is better to concentrate on the position of your jump and practice it as much as you can.

There are different jumps that are involved in figure skating. One kind is Bunny Hop Jump. This is the easiest of all because; you are not supposed to rotate during that jump. To do this jump in the right way it is preferred to jump by using right foot. You will have to put weight on right foot, keeping right arm at a side and left arm in front of your skater. Using the left foot, skater will take off and then finally it will land on the right toe and then the left foot. It is very important to keep this positioning in your mind and practice it properly so that you can do jumping in figure skating easily.
