How to Be a Great Grandparent

Being a grandparent is an honor that some people never experience but one that should be taken lightly. I have never experienced anything anywhere close to it. Seeing those little eyes look at you like you are the greatest person on the face of this earth is like nothing I can explain to anyone who is not a grandparent. Being a great grandparent is something I haven?t had to try at because it just comes natural so telling anyone how to be one will take some thought but I will try.
Know Your BoundariesKnowing your boundaries is very important because if you get off on the wrong foot with the new parents you may not get to spend the time with your grandchildren that you would like to. whether we like it or not our grandchildren are not our children and we don?t have the same authority that we did with our own children. Respect The New ParentsRespect the new parents by honoring the way they choose to raise their child. Things have changed as far as the way that doctors are saying to take care of new babies, feeding them, the position they sleep and what they eat so just be understanding when they tell you the schedule you must keep them on when they give you the opportunity to keep your new grandchild. Just understand that they have different influences on them than we did when we were new parents. We just done whatever came natural but nowadays they try to make new parents feel guilty if they don?t raise their babies by a whole new set of rules. Offer Your Time And Help Being a great grandparent will start with the giving of your time in whatever way is needed and never asking to many questions. If the new parents need help, just be there to fill the needs they need at the time they need the help. Remember All Special Occasions Grandchildren notice things that we as adults don?t. If your grandchildren are having a birthday, a ballgame,a special play at school, don?t miss these events. Children don?t hold grudges but they do remember if you make it to them or not. When it comes to events like these it doesn?t even mean you have to spend money you just have to give of yourself and your time.Grandparents rights means being there when you are needed

In Summary: To be a great grandparent you just simply have to give of yourself and your time which doesn?t cost you anything but at the same time is priceless.
